Tuesday, 17 September 2019, UK pavilion at Beijing Expo. Welcome to the UK National Day celebrations at the Beijing Expo. We hope you will enjoy this unique opportunity to experience to some of great examples of UK culture, heritage, creativity and innovation. Today is all about Innovating for a greener future, to explore ways we can work together to tackle the global challenges we are facing as a planet. 09:30 - 10:30  Blue Planet II Screening - Marine Plastics and Pollution 

Examining the role of human anthropogenic activity on the oceans. Microplastics and pollution are an increasing problem for the world's seas, threatening the lives of marine life and ultimately impacting on the ecosystem.
 

10:30 - 11:00  Music: Dulwich Jazz Band / UK-China Youth Orchestra

Dulwich School and Amy Yuan Youth Orchestra will be performing British and Chinese inspired music in and around the UK Pavilion. 
 

11:15 - 11:30  Storytelling: Peter Rabbit 

Join us for storytelling in our beautiful garden over the classic children’s book ‘Peter Rabbit’. You might also spot Peter Rabbit hiding in the garden!
 

11:00 - 11:45  Sustainable British Sparkling Wine Talk and Tasting  

The Wine People will talk about how partner-wineries in Sussex and Kent embrace the concept of sustainability and bring it forward on a daily basis in their agricultural practices and winemaking techniques, resulting in outstanding British wines.
 

11:45 - 12:00  Storytelling: Paddington Bear

Paddington Bear will be making an appearance at the UK Pavilion with his old hat, battered suitcase, duffel coat and love of marmalade! Join us for another exciting storytelling time with Padding Bear.
 

12:00 - 12:25  UK 2050 Climate Change Calculator  

Please join Professor Yufeng, developer of a series of 2050 Energy Calculators, for a talk about the 2050 Climate Change Calculator. The 2050 Calculator is an award-winning, user-friendly model that lets you create your own emissions reduction pathway, and see the impact using real scientific data.
 

12:30 - 13:00  British Airways 2119 - The Future of Sustainable Flight  

Flight of the Future, a ground-breaking report which predicts the next 100 years of air travel and outlines the many challenges, including environmental, the aviation industry will face.

Pearson will host a STEM workshop with students to design and build a mini green house. They will use a scientific method and engineering design process to create a greener future! It aims to encourage students to use this type of  methods in future and keep the spirit of learning new scientific skills on greenhouse and environment protection.

World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) will talk about the impact marine pollution is having on the environment.

Artist Liu Tong will be delivering a fun interactive session on how to create animals out of paper.
